Debate Reflection

In the hslish debate tournament honestly, I dont think I did that good. I definetly didnt give the tournoment my best effort because for some reason I was extreamly nervous and could consontrate on what to say.The best part of the argument would have to be the like attitude some of the contestants had to one another. The hardest part of the tournoment for me was coming back with aruments or just trying to say what I meant. I learned that im not really a good public speak like against people. This debate definetly taught me that my fellow class mates love tot arguevqwith one another. In most of the debate i do believe I was a fair judge, but for some topics there wasnt really anyway I could prevent myself from being biasted.

The Star-Spangled Banner

Question: Do you believe we should keep "The Star-Spangled Banner" as our natioanal anthem?

The "Star Spangled Banner should most definetly be kept as the national anthem. The "Star Spangled Banner" shows how strong America has been no matter what happens. This song shows how strong America is because it was writting right after a war after something so tragic we did not give up we kept trying as one united nation.
Changing the national anthem to something like "America the beautiful" would mean so much less because the history is much greater in the "Star Spangled Banner" and shows how strong America was and still is today. The fact we still sing the "Star Spangled Banner" shows that we are still the free nation we were then.

Graphic Novel Reflection 4/15/15

1. What were the successes of your group project?
Through out our project there wasn't any disagreements and we got it the graphic novel done by due date/time. This actual product that came out of the work put in was apealing to the eye and easy to understand.
2. What were the failures of your group project?
The actual project went very well I as the illistartor believe we should have like gotten the script done faster so I could have started the drawings faster and wouldnt have had to do them last minute.

CC Panel Debate Reflection

  1. Is compromise essential for an effective government and WHY???  Use ONE piece of cited evidence from the debates to support your position and then provide commentary. Citation example: (CC Panel Debate) I believe that compromise is essential for an effective government becasue with out the compromises made the people would just continue fighting about which ideas or theries are better. Like for the how the smaller states believed equal representation is fair while larger ones believed proportional representation is, until the compromise was made one or the other would not have equal rights.
  2. What did you do well in the debate?  Give 2 areas where you excelled.  Be specific. In the debate what I did "best' would have to be wording I used in my speech because it was a lot more discriptive than most things ive written in the past. Another thing I thought i excelled in was making point to prove my ideas and beliefs mostly because I believe they gave more impact on what I what I was actually saying and trying to explain.
  3. What do you need to improve upon (in terms of your debating skills) in preparation for the debate tournament in May? Give 2 areas of improvement.  Be specific. In the debate I definetly need to work on not being nurvous and pronousing word correctly. The prounousing words wrong was mostly caused by being nervous because I would studder or get distracted and say the wrong words. Also using all the time given is a big thing i need to work on because its awful just standing there with nothing to say and it makes youseen like you have no idea what your talking about and makes your argument a lot less perswasive.

Quickwrite 3/30/15

In the picture that was shown I believe that it is like a race to see which young girl can run the fastest pushing a baby stroler because I know of races from what seems to be this time period where young boys would build a car and race them, so possibly this is a way for girls to d othe same thing but in thier own way. I have come to this conclution becasue in the picture it show many young girls standing behind baby strolers in a way that indicates they are about ot run therefor making me think it could possibly be a race.

In the picture shown I believe that this is showing bomb squad training because in the picture it shows multiple people in what seems to be bomb squad uniforms and a woman in casual cloths with something strapped to her chest (a bomb). The reason I do not believe this is a real deal and an actual threat or suicide bomber is becasue there is a camera man and by how he doesnt have a bomb squad uniform on or is standing very close it must not be very dangerous so therefor making me believe it is just a training or practice.
